Gifts of securities, such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds are welcomed by Bryony House. This gift can be made today or as part of your Will to provide much needed funding for our programs. When securities are transferred directly to a charity the federal government eliminates the capital gains tax. We encourage you to contact us prior to your planned transfer of securities. Making the safety of women and children your concern is a warm and meaningful way to remember a loved one or cherished friend. Memorial donations can be designated to a specific program or to the general fund. Bryony House will send an acknowledgment of your donation to the next of kin or to the individual you choose.

Any occasion can be a special one when you include it with a donation to Bryony House. It can be a birthday, anniversary, retirement party, card night or just because it’s Wednesday – have it in support of Bryony House. Many companies have an Employee Matching Gift Program. Employee Matching Gift Programs allow employees and employers to work together to make a difference in changing lives of women and children. Although programs may vary within each company, generally they work the same. For each donation made by an employee, the employer will reciprocate with a gift of an equal amount. The company may only match up to a particular amount.

To have a gift matched by your company:

• Check with your Human Resources Department to see if your company has a Matching Gift Program
• Obtain and complete any necessary forms from your employer
• If you’re raising the employee portion of the donation through fundraisers (e.g. bake sale or 50/50) please complete our Third Party Form, as we will be able to assist you
• Send your donation and indicate that there will be a Matching Gift from your Company to follow
• Bryony House will provide you and your company with an acknowledgment letter and tax receipt (when applicable).

Be a Difference Maker in your Workplace!

When women and children arrive at Bryony House they often come with very little.  It is very stressful to start your life over after escaping intimate partner violence. You can help our residents by relieving their anxiety. Through the Urban Closet, we provide clothing, toys, personal care and household items. For health reason we are not able to accept used stuff animals. We rely on the generosity of the community to be able to provide these items.

Items that we are in need of for Spring and Summer:

• Bug Spray
• Afterbite (Adult and Children)

Our Urban Closet Wish List needs change regularly (based on season, numbers and ages of residents etc.) so please check back here often.

We are able to receive donations for the Urban Closet at our Administration Office located at 3399 Novalea Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia  Monday - Thursday: 1pm to 3pm.
